We offer flexible/hybrid working arrangements, and we are committed to promoting a diverse and inclusive workforce culture - a place where we can all be ourselves and succeed. Building strong networks in the community and cultural sector will be the “norm” for you as will your innovative operational business planning abilities. Your commercial approach will ensure you understand the pressures on public finances enabling you to be able to explore external – potentially inventive - funding opportunities whilst demonstrating a strong sense of partnership and collaboration. With a strong digital arts focus, Stockroom will be a futuristic, universal culture, learning and discovery space to give the people of Stockport an opportunity to learn new skills, practice arts and crafts, enjoy live music and performances, use free services, and benefit from cutting-edge learning and IT facilities. In this context, we received £14.5m of Government money to create a new Culture, Learning and Discovery centre to enable us to bring more people to the heart of the town centre and inspire a lifelong love of culture in children, young people, and adults of all ages. Added to that the Sunday Times has hailed Stockport as one the best places to live in the UK in 2023 it referred to us as being a “funky, family-friendly alternative to Manchester’s Northern Quarter”. ![]() ![]() And the borough is turning heads within the national arena a recent article in the Guardian said that there was ‘Something special in the air’ with new bars, art, music and restaurants opening up. Stockport is a town of significant potential for lots of reasons but mostly its people and our strong sense of culture and community. We’re looking for someone special to allow us to create something special. We need a leading, oozing with creativity, action-focused person to bring our ambitious Stockroom project to life. Wouldn’t recommend it, there’s so much walk time just to get to where to clock in that you don’t get paid for, just isn’t worth it.'Something special is in the air’ in Stockport – are you ready to harness the art of the possible with us? Only thing that made it worth it was the friends I met. You’ll get threatened with points all the time, which is part of the system there, too many points can result in termination. You only get a 36 min lunch that you aren’t paid for but lunch is free with meal vouchers. We don’t even have a break room, we’re forced to walk to the cafeteria for our breaks, there is not additional walk time to get to and back from the cafeteria. We’re constantly sent to our break and lunches late and we’re never staffed properly. Management makes it hard for us to do our job by not listening to our demands for tools and supplies. ![]() Leads are rude and will talk about all other FSA’s behind their backs. There’s such a lack of structure, everyone is constantly over stepping their boundaries and don’t know how to work as a team properly. I work down at toadstool cafe and it’s just such a stressful environment.
